There is a fight to save the historic Julienne High School at 325 Homewood Avenue in Dayton, presently owned by Dayton Public Schools.  Members of the Coalition to Save Julienne are behind this fight to keep the school from being demolished on March 5th

The Coalition to Save Julienne filed for an extension of the temporary restraining order that is to end March 2nd.   At the hearing yesterday, Wednesday, February 15th, the judge concluded that his decision will be mailed to both parties this Friday.  If not granted, the members intend to appeal his decision.

From 1927 until 2007, the building welcomed students of Julienne, Dayton Christian and Stivers School for the Arts. The school has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2009.

The members want to save the history of the building and its neoclassical architecture.  Their hope is to find a developer who would turn the school into a community center for the Five Oaks neighborhood.  A boon to potential developers may be the fact that the district has done the asbestos abatement so no additional incurring costs to tackle that hurdle.
